There are many sizes of sewing machine needles, and they each have their own purpose. Mostly the size of the needle. Small needles for fine fabrics, larger ones for heavier fabrics. Makes sense if you think about it. Not that you should be thinking about it that much...
So... anyway, I was keeping my needles in the package, which didn't work out because they fell out and were all over the drawer. So I got one of these:
Small holes in the top, and hard to get the needles back out. I also thought the points would get dull faster being on that hard plastic surface.
I found lots of suggestions on the internet about using pill organizer, or sticking them in fabric, blah blah blah.. I'd rather not have to pick them up out of box (ouch) or some other method that involves sticking my fingers into a bunch of sharp objects... I just want to be able to stab the needle into something and move on.
Then I saw this:
But it was $6. So, I got a Dritz pincushion for $2.49 and wrote the needles sizes on it with a fine Sharpie.
Get the pink one, the red one is too dark to write on. (right on, right on...) The Singer one has more information, but I don't need three section for ball point needles (I only have 1) and I can always write more if I feel the need.
It's good to be cheap...
